The series is inspired by a passage from Kobo Abe\u2019s <em>The Face of Another<\/em> (1964):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I may have glimpsed a freedom unimaginable at the time when I depended upon human relations through the window of the face&#8230; Perhaps, losing my face allowed me to truly experience the outside world rather than merely viewing a picture drawn on the window.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choi interprets this concept by portraying figures with featureless, black-dot faces, symbolizing the unknown and the hidden aspects of identity. These figures, often depicted in moments of solitude or interaction, embody the anxiety that comes from not fully understanding oneself or others.
