Artist’s Inspiration: A Gateway to Another World

From a young age, Jeongmo Ahn believed in the existence of a mysterious gateway in the corner of her garden—a portal to another world. This imaginative belief forms the foundation of her artwork, where she creates a fantastical realm inhabited by the spirits of animals. Her inspiration further deepened with the passing of her beloved cat, Dalbong, leading her to ponder the existence of a world where animal souls find solace.

The World of Bigfoot and Friends

At the core of Jeongmo Ahn’s work is Bigfoot, a half-human, half-beast creature known for its immense size and fur-covered body. However, Ahn’s Bigfoot is not a terrifying monster. Instead, he is a gentle, lovable figure who cares for his garden and flowers. Alongside his playful children, Bigfoot represents the innocence found in human children. He reminds us that even the most feared creatures deserve love and acceptance.

Ahn’s world also features ‘Mad Toe,’ a mischievous rabbit who acts as a villain only to those who deserve it. These characters live in a harsh, snow-covered mountain, yet they create their own spring, blossoming flowers and hope. Through her art, Jeongmo Ahn offers a peaceful vision, inviting viewers to find comfort in the beauty of her mystical world.
